Discover How to Be Your Best
Percolate Prosperity
by Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino on April 1st, 2015

Let's face it, the world is filled up to the top of the tallest coffee cup you can find with people whose sole mission is to stir things up, put up a resistance to what you are trying to do.

Today I am thinking about how people go about making a major change, for example, a job change. When I think about people trying to make a huge change, I think about trying to help people as they encounter resistance and negativity to what they are trying to do.

I call these folks the "Critical Chorus."  You may also hear them as "Naysayers" or "Bad Brews."

These are the folks that say things "You are too old, you will never find a job," or "You won't be able to get paid you get now," and one of my personal favorites. "You can't do that, it's not fair to your family!"

So what makes the fear-based, critical chorus sing out their negative tune?

Fear and sometimes jealousy and probably countless other reasons. Often when we dare to take risks, there are those around us who wish they could do what we are saying we want to do. They become critical of us instead of looking at themselves.

I say, listen to your needs, your heart and to their suggestions as information only. A large part of escaping negativity and naysayers is to believe in yourself, your opinions, your abilities and standing strong in the face of what's bubbling up around you.  Your attitude in these moments is mission critical.

It ultimately falls on us to believe in ourselves, trust our capabilibites and cheer ourselves on.  This creates the inner strength needed to bypass the resistance and negative energy.  Don't allow life or others to chip away at your coffee mug.  It's yours.

What is true for you is only known to you.

For the most part, attempts by others to know what we need is really all about them.

As you continue to Percolate, in order to embrace your space in the world, you must search inward and look to the end before you begin. We each leave our footprints wherever we go – no matter how young or how old we are.  You are where you are today because of where you have been in the past.  I believe we meet people for a reason, not by accident. I believe each person you’ve met and every experience you’ve endured along the way has given you the opportunity to learn, grow and change, and everything is what your soul needs.  Through all of this, your greatest advice is closer than you think – it’s within your own head and heart. Learning to trust your intuition and believing in yourself with self-love, self-worth and a clear vision helps bring your authentic you to the world.
