Discover How to Be Your Best
Be Your Best Ever You With Songwriter Jazz Mills
by Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino on December 3rd, 2013

After opening for artists like Stevie Wonder and Arcade Fire and collaborating with The Kills, The Black Angels, Cowboy and Indian and Leopold and His Fiction, Austin, Texas-based songwriter Jazz Mills introduces her self-titled debut EP and shared a little more about herself with The Best Ever You Network.

How did you get to be where you are today?
I am always pretty much down to do almost anything with anyone and have never been a career oriented person so I guess all my adventures with my family, friends, and strangers got me here.

How do you help others be their best?
I think everyone is very interesting and really enjoy getting to know them. I think being interested in someone can help them realize that they are notices and significant so I spend a lot of time getting to know new people and making sure I stay in touch.

How do you help yourself be the best you can be?
I am very impacted by the people who are around me so making sure that I keep good company is key for me. Becoming a mother really kicked my ass into gear as far as making sure I am the best mom/friend/person I can be.

Tell us about someone or something special in your life?
My daughter is my whole world. Her name is Ava and she turned 2 yesterday. I was reborn when she was born.
What’s new in your life?
Pursuing my solo music is very new and different for me. I've been in the studio a lot this last year and will be even more this year. I'm looking forward to showing people a lot of different sides of my voice.

 Have you ever been fired?
Oh man yeah. I worked at LA Weight Loss when I was like 17 in San Angelo, TX. It paid like 12 dollars an hour which was nuts for my hometown especially when you were that young. All I was supposed to do was convince people they needed to buy these bars and smoothies to be healthy but I couldn't do it and always ended up telling people that I thought they looked great and if they really wanted to lose weight then just change their diet and save yourself the money. I didn't last very long there.

What are your real passions?

If you won the lotto what would you do?
I would do a lot of traveling and hopefully find useful ways to make sure resources like food, shelter, healthcare, and music could be distributed more properly to those who don't have it.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
I have a list of like 1000 new goals every day so I can't really narrow it down. Other than raising a healthy balanced little girl, I just want to be a part of anything that helps people get along.

What do you like to do in your personal life?
Travel, have dinner parties, movies.

Places- Terlingua,TX
